OSR #1 Update
On 18 June 2010, the FDA wrote to CTI Science questioning whether OSR#1® fit within the agency’s definition of a dietary supplement, indicating that instead it appeared to be a drug. Although we believe the product meets the legal definition of a “dietary supplement,” we have decided not to contest this point but to work with the agency. While achieving formal drug approval is lengthy and costly, CTI Science will in the course of it prove to FDA’s satisfaction the safety and efficacy of OSR#1® and ultimately be able to offer OSR#1® to the public with FDA-authorized therapeutic claims.
As a result of this decision, CTI Science has
voluntarily agreed to remove OSR#1® from the market effective Thursday, 29 July
2010. The product will not be available for sale after that date until new
drug approval has been obtained. Please access the CTI Science website,
www.ctiscience.com, for
updates on OSR#1® in the future.

Feingold Diet
Did you know that the brand of ice cream, cookie, and potato chip you select could have a direct effect on the behavior, health, and ability to learn for you or your children?
Numerous studies show that certain synthetic food additives can have serious learning, behavior, and/or health effects for sensitive people.
The Feingold Program (also known as the Feingold Diet) is a test to determine if certain foods or food additives are triggering particular symptoms. It is basically the way people used to eat before "hyperactivity" and "ADHD" became household words, and before asthma and chronic ear infections became so very common.
In the beginning (Stage One) of the Feingold Program, aspirin and some foods containing salicylate (Suh-LIH-Suh-Late) are eliminated. Salicylate is a group of chemicals related to aspirin. There are several kinds of salicylate, which plants make as a natural pesticide to protect themselves. Those that are eliminated are listed in the salicylate list which is included also in the Program Handbook. Most people can eventually tolerate at least some of these salicylates.
The Feingold Program eliminates these additives:
- Artificial (synthetic) coloring
- Artificial (synthetic) flavoring
- Aspartame (Nutrasweet, an artificial sweetener)
- Artificial (synthetic) preservatives BHA, BHT, TBHQ
Symptoms that may be helped by the Feingold Program:
Please note:
- Everyone experiences some of these symptoms once in a while, but it is the intensity and frequency that can indicate when it is not a normal condition.
- Success with this program may make stimulant medication unnecessary.
- If you are now using such medication, changing dosages on your own can be dangerous. Physician supervision is needed when changing psychoactive medications.
- If any of these symptoms have appeared suddenly or if they are severe, consult a physician. It may be a symptom of some other, more serious, condition.
