Dr. Cavazos also works closely with other professionals in the community such as pediatricians, homeopathic providers, speech therapists and behavior therapists when needed.

At BrainworX, biomedical intervention involves genetic testing and other laboratory analysis to determine the most efficient combination of natural herbs and supplements needed to correct your child’s biochemical deficiencies. For example if a child is deficient in a particular neurotransmitter needed for focus and attention, we provide the building blocks needed to help him/her create more of that neurotransmitter. The evaluation of genetic enzyme mutations or variations helps Dr. Cavazos pinpoint the cause for abnormal biochemistry. Identifying enzyme mutations can help uncover the underlying problems causing low B-12 or low methionine levels as well as high homocysteine or high ammonia levels.

Identifying neurological deficiencies is vital in creating an effective treatment plan. Dr. Cavazos evaluates functional and structural weaknesses such as balance, gross/fine motor abnormalities, and postural integrity along with behavior questionnaires to find neurological deficiencies. Let’s take dyslexia for example; these children usually suffer from less than optimal firing of the left side of the brain. In contrast, AD/HD usually presents as a right frontal lobe deficiency. Parents may also notice balance and coordination problems as well as decreased self-confidence in many of these children.

Interactive Metronome (IM) therapy helps activate the rhythm and timing centers of the brain. IM therapy has a remarkable affect on many of our patients. We have witnessed great gains in attention/focus, motor control/coordination, balance, and language processing. We have also had great success decreasing impulsivity and aggression. BrainworX utilizes unique and creative exercises and modalities to target your child’s neurological deficiencies.

BrainworX utilizes the latest and most accurate laboratory testing available to identify which dietary changes will be most beneficial for your child. It only makes sense to identify what nutritional needs your child has before putting him/her on a restrictive and lifestyle changing diet.
